Eye candy for May

These peach blossoms are from the beginning of May, seen on a random tree that sprouted where peaches fell off a truck.

These pale blue iris showed up a few years ago. They had been planted two or three years before that, and took a while to make an appearance. They are being choked out by the hellebore and I probably should do something. I’m a little worried because I have an absolute non-green thumb when it comes to gardening.

Beautiful Peggy Jeffcoat daylilies have been eaten by the deer for five years. I never see flowers like this anymore. Maybe if I study the picture I’ll be encouraged to go out and fight for them. My reaction to the film, Bambi, would probably shock people.

Lots going on. I’m working on a fantasy short story about Negotiation in a Goblin Market, and short stories are hard! I’m working on a long story, basically a sequel to Death Comes to the Science Fair, and that’s even harder. I did some tablet weaving after watching at least ten YouTube videos. I’ll take a picture if I do better. My sourdough improved this week but I ran out of whole wheat flour. My grist mill (daughter-in-law) let me grind extras at her house. I’ve been teaching the grandchildren some string figures. The true cat’s cradle fascinates them because sometimes it goes through the same three figures over and over, and sometimes it suddenly branches out with extras. It definitely teaches precise hand motions, very difficult at the beginning. I don’t understand how we got halfway through May while I’m still thinking April. !
