I submitted a short story somewhere and am waiting to hear if it will be accepted for an anthology. This has wrecked my concentration and caused me to obsessively click on my mail function. I know other people have been notified so it’s making me glum. So I’m cleaning my computer desktop.
The desktop is not fun to look at or useful or even respectable, because I don’t put things away every day. I find amazing loveliness on the internet and note it with a screenshot because that’s quick.
For example, this image is from a booklet about the stained glass in a church in Bayonne, New Jersey. I need to read the whole thing very carefully and study the pictures. The stained glass is not from the German firm of Mayer Stained glass. Instead the artist is Irish. He deserves a lot more than a quick screenshot.

The screenshots ‘pile up’ in the right hand corner of my screen. Real paper would make the problem clearer because the stack would build up and overflow. Pixels don’t do that. It’s only when I go looking for — that note I suddenly remember I was going to check out — that I realize the pixels are about twenty deep. So to speak.
I have screenshots of recipes from Barton Springs Mill in Texas, a random internet picture of a pretty girl, (because when I am writing stories it helps to have a visual for my hero or heroine), and the ‘paperwork’ for creating a United States Post Office account, for the purposes of placing an online hold on my mail. This one is important because I allowed the USPS to generate my password. And it is one of those doozies with utterly random numbers and letters, that is then somehow magically saved somewhere and yet is totally safe. That just means anyone who isn’t me can find and use it.
A screenshot to remind me that I have real stuff that needs to leave the house. This screenshot will only matter for a few more days. What’s the betting that it will be off my computer shortly thereafter?

I have screenshots for a whole set of possible games to try out from a list on Bitewing.com, fifteen games that someone liked. Regicide Legacy. What was I thinking???? I can trash that screenshot! Oh wait.
’Orbit.’ This game looks interesting enough that it goes in the folder called, Screenshots that need checking. Games called Tik Tak Trek, Magical Athlete, and Toy Battle also look vaguely interesting.

My car registration renewal paperwork is no longer relevant because I have the tags on the car. However, it reminds me that my driving license is up for renewal this year. I have the forms but I don’t like putting them in my mailbox, because now and then we have a nut who gives us everyone else’s mail and not our own.
I didn’t even get to the bottom of that pile of pixels but I’ve run out of the brain space to make decisions. I’ll try again tomorrow!
