The cover art for the anthology I am part of has been released, but not the book itself yet! I think that will be in two weeks. In the meantime, …

That’s me on the front cover, the fourth author!
I have another story deadline in about ten days, and the story is still a mess. It has been a constant lesson in what different sources say about the same event. I read yet another account of the sinking of the S. S. Central America told by someone many years later.
This man claimed that Captain Thomas Badger, a passenger on the steamer, was the real person doing work on the boat while the captain — Lieutenant Herndon — was a nobody in particular. Captain Herndon was a Commander in the U. S. Navy, detailed to the civilian steamer because it carried U.S. Mail and gold for the U. S. Treasurey. All other accounts, even when critical of a given action of Herndon, say that he was an excellent captain and the leak, that ultimately sank the boat, was obviously not his fault.
My unreliable source also claimed that Badger saved 200 people and that is manifestly not true, so we just chalk this up to a reminder that the internet is unreliable because people are unreliable.
