I’m working on a short story. First I struggled to get words on the page. Now I’m cutting and cutting. All sorts of factoids are biting the dust because they don’t fit within the confines of 8,000 words. The beautiful Carnegie-built Houston Public Library building was abandoned in 1925. It had become too small for the collection. The Sanatorium in West Texas for treating TB had a nursing school that drew students from patients who had recovered. These things didn’t fit into my story so now you know anyway.
