Today is my last physical therapy appointment for my hip. Probably. Not the end of PT in my life because in a year or so, when the hip is completely stabilized, I’ll have to deal with my back problems. Spinal columns are supposed to look like … columns … not stacked beads. But today is about the hip and it’s good.
My therapist says it will take at least a year or two to completely develop strength on my left side, especially since I had some seriously atrophied muscles there which have been rejuvenated. Because I like her and the practice in general, and because they are probably going to give me a t-shirt to mark the last day, I wanted to give them gifts. So I made them all potholders. However, I ran out of the first batch of loops and the second order took forever to come. Just in time it arrived and I made six potholders yesterday instead of thinking about my works-in-progress or book reviews and such. So here’s some eye candy. This is me floating above my responsibilities.

Actually this is an old photo from 1985, the first time an astronaut did an untethered space walk. I got it from APOD, NASA credit. I love it.

This is a picture of the Mars rover, Opportunity, taken by the rover itself, when the shadow fell on the opposing side of a crater. Opportunity died in 2018 after working for years and years, when it was supposed to work for ninety days. Absolutely inspiring. Also from APOD, NASA credit.

This one just popped up because I was browsing. All the cyclone tracks for about fifteen years collated in one image. It’s a fascinating picture. I love how you can see the equatorial zone! https://apod.nasa.gov/apod/ap210915.html Image Credit: National Hurricane Center, NOAA, NASA; Processing: Nilfanion (via Wikipedia)
I found Saturn photo compilation, showing it slowly changing orientation, all on the same page. It is gorgeous. It is definitely not public domain so go take a look. https://apod.nasa.gov/apod/ap210919.html
And since we are supposed to have auroras this year along with sunspots here’s a picture from 2014 of auroras. https://apod.nasa.gov/apod/ap260210.html This one is not a NASA copyright so I can’t show it but it’s quite amazing.
That’s all for today!
