Tuesday, January 28, was the Feast of Saint Thomas Aquinas. I somehow got him mixed up with Saint Thomas à Becket whose feast is in December, and in a hazy way did not check up on what I was thinking so you get this picture late. I should know better. Anyway, here’s a picture.
Pope Pius XI said that the sun is St Thomas’ symbol because “he both brings the light of learning into the minds of men and fires their hearts and wills with the virtues”.

Saint Thomas Aquinas from a stained glass window in the Chapel of the Immaculate Conception, Saint Charles Borromeo Seminary, Gwynnedd, PA.
I love all the different symbols in this image. Saint Thomas is wearing the black and white of the Dominicans. The feather and book as symbols, derive from the lengthy explanation and defense of the faith that Saint Thomas wrote. He composed hymns about the Eucharist.

The whole window is actually really tall. Here’s the rest of it. There are six windows this size on each side of the chapel.
The dove represents the Holy Spirit whispering in Saint Thomas’ ear.
