Happy Thanksgiving, yesterday!?
We had a spatchcocked turkey. I don’t know why it isn’t just a butterflied turkey. It was spatchcocked by a team effort with appropriate noises, concluding with the instruction to press down on the splayed out turkey, as though you were doing CPR. The appropriate noise for that seems to be a big cracking sound, along with a squeal.
The dark meat was wonderful, the white meat was slightly overcooked. Spatchcocked turkey cooks incredibly quickly. I also made a loaf of bread with herbs included and turned it into superfluffy stuffing, cooked above the turkey since it couldn’t be inside. The concept was great but the execution needed a more intense herbal flavor. All the same we had a great feast, lots of laughter, lots of jokes, lots of food and drink, lots of family time.
The baby did melt down around 9 p.m. after he had been put to bed a few times and couldn’t sleep. At 6:15 this morning he decided the time had come to giggle and make noise, so I guess he got over himself.
The others are still putting Rivendell legos together.
Advent will begin Sunday. We heard a metal version of O Come, O Come Emmanuel but I don’t know where to find it. Onward!
